Panko

How Panko works

Panko connects three things: the glucose sensor, the pump and the people who care for the person wearing them.

From sensor to caregiver

  1. 1. The sensor measures

A continuous glucose sensor measures glucose under the skin and sends it to the pump.

  2. 2. The pump decides and reports

The Panko pump uses the reading, delivers insulin, and reports glucose, battery, reservoir and status to the cloud over Wi-Fi or cellular.

  3. 3. The cloud delivers

Readings are stored securely and passed to everyone linked to the patient, within moments.

  4. 4. Caregivers follow and act

In the app or on the web, caregivers see glucose, get alerts and, if allowed, send commands. The pump confirms every command.

What caregivers can do

Follow glucose live

Current value with trend arrow, the pump's short-term prediction, and a graph you can zoom.

Understand the pattern

Time in range, average, variability, and a daily pattern that shows when highs and lows tend to happen.

Get alerts

Notifications for low and high glucose, no data, and pump problems, with the person's own limits.

Control the pump

Deliver a bolus, suspend or resume basal, fill the reservoir, and change settings if you are the owner. Nothing is shown as done until the pump confirms it.

Share care

Invite other caregivers and decide what each can do. Remove access at any time.

Keep a record

Every command and notification is logged, so everyone can see what happened and who did it.

Who can do what

Each person linked to a patient has one of three roles.

Owner

The person who set the pump up. Cannot be removed.

  • Everything an admin can do
  • Change dosing-related algorithm settings
  • Manage who has access

Admin

A trusted caregiver with control.

  • View everything
  • Deliver a bolus, suspend or resume basal, fill the reservoir
  • Invite and remove viewers and admins

Viewer

Follows along, read-only.

  • See glucose, history and pump status
  • Receive alerts
  • No pump controls

Alerts

Alerts follow the limits the owner has set for the person. Each can be switched on or off by every caregiver.

Urgent low, low and high glucose

Critical alarms can sound even in Do Not Disturb, once the caregiver has allowed it.

No glucose data

Raised when no valid reading has arrived for a while, because a blind loop needs attention.

Sensor and pump problems

Sensor disconnected, pump offline, low battery, low reservoir, pump error.

Command not confirmed

If the pump does not confirm a command after several tries, everyone is told so nobody assumes it worked.

Without internet: Bluetooth

When there is no internet, the app can connect directly to the pump over Bluetooth. As a guest you can view readings. Signed in as an owner or admin you can also send commands. While connected this way the app talks only to the pump, and everything syncs again when you are back online.
